Rangers Top Wolfpack 5-3
The
Kitchener Rangers Atom MD Red ran their season record to 26-1-2 with a 5-3
victory over the Paris Wolfpack in game 2 of the Wayne Gretzky International
Ice Hockey Tournament.
Kitchener caught Paris a little asleep to open the game and scored twice in the opening 3 minutes to jump out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Wolfpack roared back with 3 goals in 3 minutes in the second period to take a 3-2 lead into the third period. Will M. notched the first goal for Paris, on the power play, when he took a pass from Spencer C. and roofed a wrist shot over the glove of the Rangers goalie. Just six seconds later, Tyler G. jammed in a rebound in the crease to tie the game. Will picked up an assist on Tyler's goal. Austin “Corey” P. gave Paris the lead with a highlight reel goal. Austin’s initial shot was stopped but he dove and batted the puck out of mid air into the net. Joel A. and Trevor K. picked up assists. While the third period was even in play, it was the Rangers who found the back of the net 3 times to pick up the victory. Will M. received player of the game honours for Paris.
