Just a few things to bring everyone up to date on some team items.
Kathryn Woods and Shelley Jakowetz have agreed to share Manager duties, Greg Jakowetz and Todd Harrison have agreed to be trainers, and I have two potential assistants. Thank you, everyone for your offers.
We didn't have any "no" votes for switching our dress code to the warm up suits, so we will go in that direction. Shelley let me know that there are suits at Sam's for sizing. Only problem right now, we don't have player numbers assigned, yet.
On Saturday, October 14, our team will be skating during the first intermission of the Paris Mounties and Ayr Centennials game. The players' admission is free, parents $8. We'll be able to sit in the Blue Line Room to watch the rest of the game, maybe bring in some pizza, and there are adult beverages available for the adults. I will add the event to our schedule.
Staying with the Mounties, a couple of games of interest:
Saturday, November 4 - Syl Apps' banner from Maple Leaf Gardens will be returned to Paris, and raised to the rafters. Carleton the Bear will be there, and some giveaways. Again, our players will get in free, and parents $8.
Saturday, January 27 - Bulldogs Night. There will be some Hamilton Bulldogs players attend the game.
We are currently looking into some away tournaments, that would be before Christmas. We will be looking for fundraising ideas, to help offset the additional costs for tournaments, etc. By "we," I mean our team managers.
I attended the PMHA Coaches' meeting this evening, and have some news for us:
Our practice times will be Thursdays at 4:30, and Saturdays at 7:00am. I expressed concern over the 4:30 practices, but to no avail. I'll have to come up with a special plan and/or policy for Thursdays.
Our home games will be Fridays at 6:00pm.
Our game schedule is expected out tomorrow (27th). We may be expected to play as early Monday (not at home). Please watch the website for updates.
I made an error (a pretty big one) on the letter that I handed out at our meeting. I gave the wrong cell#. So, if anyone was trying to text or call me, you didn't have much luck. The last four digits should have been 0574. Maybe I should call the incorrect number to see if I have any messages...
