Our Wolfpack team’s last two games were against some top
league contenders including Six Nations LL2 who came into our game with a 6
game winning streak and to date are now sitting at a 8 game winning streak, with
no losses and a single tied game.
The Paris LL2 team has had a 7 game winning streak earlier in
the season and have recently won the Arthur tournament, so our team had some
strong competition to face.
This past Saturday, December 1st our team traveled to Ohsweken to face the Six Nations LL2 team, we were missing only two players, Spencer and Riley, so this minor shortage of players allowed our team to maintain much of our forward and defence lines.
Our team played well in the first period and challenged the Blackhawks and it was only in the final minute of play in the first period did Six Nations capture a goal and take a minor lead over the Wolfpack.
The second period was much like the first period with both teams vying for scoring chances; however, both goalies held off many scoring chances, until the 4.5 minute mark when the Blackhawks found the back of the Paris net to add a 2nd goal to their lead.
The third period both teams saw red, no not the goal light, more like penalties, in fact, Blackhawks incurred 22 minutes in penalties in the 3rd period alone, while Wolfpacks had 8 minutes in penalties, which distracted both teams with scoring, leaving the period with a no goal standing.
Good work to our boys, especially to Caleb Hunks for being the best contending team against the LL2 Blackhawks as our team was the lowest scoring match for Six Nations all season.
Game versus Paris Midget LL2
This past Monday, our team faced our other Local League 2 Paris team for what would turn out to be a great friendly, evenly matched game between both home teams. It was interesting watching friends play against one another and even cousins playing on opposing teams. Our Riley McHutchion from LL4 had a number of great deeking chances and shots on his cousin Ethan Crozier from LL2 who managed to save all 6+ chances throughout the game.
Our team was missing Fletcher, Lucas and Deryk and noticeably from the other LL2 team they were missing a number of players as they had a short bench with a number of AP players present on the ice. Some of these missing players were in Kingston playing for High School hockey teams.
The game started off strong with bursts of speed, hard shots, breakaway and races to the puck from both teams, each vying for the first goal of the game. However, that would have to wait until the second period, as no goals were recorded by either team in the first period.
LL2 had a rewarding second period, with one of their top players Wyatt Collings scoring twice and taking the lead in the game.
Our LL4 team had a fantastic third period and dominated in scoring with securing three goals in the game, that managed to bring our team from a 3-0 down fault to a 3-3 tie, before LL2 managed to earn a fourth winning goal at the 3.5 minute mark in the last period.
Congratulations to the following players for the goals and assists in this game, including:
1st goal - Jonah Hunks assisted by Jaden Larry
2nd goal – Josh Hicks
3rd goal – Evan Shipp assisted by Jackson Thibodeau
Player of the Week
This week’s player of the week is Cameron Hussey who has demonstrated some great defensive support for our team. He has a direct influence in our offensive escape from our zone with many strong passes up to our forwards, clearing the puck and when in our opponent’s zone. He is relentless with slap shots from the point, keeping the puck in their zone and bombarding the goalies with scoring chances, offering rebound chances for our forwards.
Go Wolfpack Go!
