Penalties overshadow goals in game against Langton Leafs
This evening’s home game our Wolfpack hosted the Langton Leafs what would turn out to be a heated game with many penalties on both benches, causing even more difficulty on our already shortened bench.  The lines that we had sorted out, in the dressing room, was tossed to the wind as we had players continuously coming and going to the penalty box.

The game started out quick with Langton rushing in at the drop of the puck with a fast shot on Ethan who was ready and poised to make a solid save.  Our Wolfpack quickly turned the puck around and returned to the Leafs zone and Calvin fooled the goalie to make a fantastic deeking goal, putting our team on the scoreboard with just 21 seconds in the game.

The remaining part of the first period was a duel between goalies as they repeatedly were challenged by the opposing teams and they put on a great show, cutting down players shots and scoring attempts.

Langton claimed the second period with their first two goals of the game, earning them the lead in the game, one goal of which that took place when our team was fighting off a penalty.

Before the start of the third period our team was still dealing with penalties and it was not the ideal way of beginning our last period of the game to work on catching up to the Leafs.  Langton wasted no time to extend their lead as they scored with just 10 seconds in the third period and a fourth goal four minutes later.

Although, our team was feeling the pinch from Langton they weren’t giving up and a renewed outlook on the game surfaced after a goal from Ben C. off a pass from Spencer.  That goal cut down the lead in half and reviewing the game clock we still had 9 and a half minutes remaining in the game, plenty of time to make a difference and a wager on this game.

In the final minutes of the game we put out our top goal scorers in an attempt to gamble on making another goal and our plan paid off well as Fletcher earned his first assist of the year to help Wyatt make a fantastic back handed, bar down goal with 47 seconds left in the period.  With just one goal separating our teams, the Wolfpack were in an excellent contention of tying or winning this game, realizing this our bench motioned to our goalie Ethan to race to our bench as soon as we got the puck deep in the Langton zone.

With Ethan on our bench our skaters pushed against the remaining seconds to score; however, not before Langton sent the puck at our open net; fortunately, our defenders were there to prevent another goal and keep us in the game.  Unfortunately, the scoreboard sounded before we could deliver a fourth goal.

Good game Wolfpack, better luck tomorrow as we travel to Waterford to meet up with their Wildcats 2.
