Paris tormented by Ingersoll goalie's feat
LL4 Wolfpack’s second road game was to Ingersoll to match up against their LL2 team; unfortunately, a few players were unable to make our trip including defencemen Riley M and Deryk R, who injured his hand in an earlier game in Langton.

In addition, to our two missing defenceman, our forward player Lucas was also unable to make our game; fortunately, Josh R, a new addition to our team helped cover for our team.

Josh, a first year Midget player, was playing his first year in Paris, originally from the Delhi centre he now calls Paris his home centre and his teammates have quickly adopted him as a Wolfpack player.

Josh quickly made a great first impression as he filled in on our defensive line and took control of the play in our zone, cutting short many Ingersoll offensive plays and returning the puck upwards to our awaiting forwards.  He even showcased his offensive traits with a nice rush up to the Ingersoll zone before getting a shot on net.

Ingersoll Express’ goalie was a huge factor in the game and was responsible for much of his team’s success, as he was consistent with saves on many of our team’s shots.  Our players were relentless with hard, direct shots on the goalie throughout the game that made their goalie on edge all game.  At one point of the game Riley had a penetrating shot that connected with the side of the goalie’s mask, causing a 10 minute game delay as their trainer needed to repair his mask before the game could resume.

Not 5 minutes later, in a true déjà vu fashion, did Riley not take another shot and hit the goalies mask, Riley had his sights on that top corner and if it wasn’t for the cross bar on a third shot he would have earned a well deserved goal for all of his efforts through the game.

Much of Paris’ play was bogged down due to our need to fight off penalty minutes throughout the game.  In fact, at the start of the third period we had 3 players in the penalty box, this included coincidental penalties with the Express, allowing us to have 3 skaters and a goalie.  Although, our team did an excellent job penalty killing, it isn’t a predicament our coaching staff want to see our players involved in and hope that we can get better control of our play and avoid unnecessary penalties.

Ingersoll held the lead for much of the game having scored two goals in the first period, one in the second period and two in the third period.  However, the score did not give an accurate account of the game, as the spectators found that the play was even between both teams.

Our Wolfpack should be given due credit for never letting up or being discouraged by the score and this is demonstrated as they pushed on into the third period and started a come back as they scored two goals in the third and if it wasn’t for 8 minutes in penalties in the last period our boys could have earned more points.  Congrats to Jonah for a beautiful, 5 hole goal with assists by Josh H and Cameron while our team’s second goal was scored by Josh and assisted by Cameron, who earned two points in the game.
