Wolfpack Game 5 & 6 from Sport's Writer Coach Stan...
Hello again Wolfpacker's, family, friends and FANS!!

Again it is my pleasure; Coach Stan (AKA Frankie - my pseudonym given by GM Stewy a few years back), to bring you our play by play updates from our Atom LL2 team games!!!

This past weekend saw the Wolf Pack on the road on a cold rainy Saturday in Waterford and back home for a lunch time tilt vs. Port Dover Pirates!!

Game 5 - Wolfpack vs. Waterford Wildcats

Saturday The Pack seemed to have the rainy-day blues as they never seemed to be able to get the ball rolling until the 3rd period which was far too late as the Waterford Wildcats were hungry and took advantage of the opportunity, winning the loose puck battles and opening up a 5-0 lead!  This lead was held by Callum-the-Cat as he was turning away all he could.  Despite several break-away's by the K-Man and 2 GOLDEN opportunities by Andrew with Austin-Matthews-like wrist shots, only to be stoned by the Wildcats net-minder who turned back everything The Pack put at them!

It wasn't until 17 seconds left in the second when the K-Man took a great feed from Jacob B to send him in all alone...  This time, the K-Man made no mistake and went TOP SHELF (where momma keeps the cookies) to light the lamp, ending the second 5-1 and The Pack had some fire under them!

Waterford was sensing this and came out after the break the same way they'd started the game, hungry for goals, scoring 44 seconds into the 3rd regaining the 5 goal (6-1) cushion.  The Pack pushed back a minute later on a FANTASTIC tip by Jake-the-Snake H. sneak in effort and changing the direction of a shot by K-Man giving the Wildcat net minder no chance, with Jacob B. also picking up the assist!

Soon after the Wolfpack struck again with Andrew R. passing it up to Digger Atkinson who spotted the K-Man streaking up the middle.  Going in with the tenders number noted, he notched his second of the game, making it 6-3!

Those Wild Cats from Waterford would not be denied victory in their own barn as they scored 2 more late ones sealing the victory.

The Packs defense, No-Gloves-Ryan Q, Isaac G, Crusher Sinclair, and new comer to the blue line for this game David M (who did a great job adapting to the D for the first time); ALL did a GREAT job!  Once Coach Stewy woke up The Pack forwards, they gave it their BEST in what time was left but the gap was too big to overcome.

The Pack will turn the page on this one and get ready for the Port Dover Pirates who will no doubt be ready (and who have likely enjoyed a perch dinner in preparation) for the challenge - it should be a competitive group!!

Game 6 - Port Dover Pirates vs. Wolfpack

Sunday's noon hour collide between the Wolfpack and Dover was a WILD one with the Wolfpack meaning business!!

This sports writer could only narrow it down to one of 3 things...  Coach (Mike) Babcock's masterful line juggling; Coach 'Punch (Stewy) Imlach' impressive motivational chants or whatever Coach Daily put in those water jugs but the Paris Wolfpack came out all FIRED UP and on a mission to fill the NET!!

It only took 16 seconds for the K-Man to get on his horse with a quick feed from David M springing him in on goal to 'bulge the twine' early with Taylor D picking up the other assist.  The Wolfpack wasn't done there with 2 more in 2:30 also by K-Man giving him a natural 'hattie' with assist going to Jacob B, Digger Atkinson, Jack A and Jake-the-Snake and just like that, those Port Dover Pirates found themselves in a big hole less than 5 minutes in!

The Pack stretched the lead to 4 with a nifty move and hard work by Turbo Stewart who had to be getting tired after some fantastic back checking.  He notched his marker with Digger getting another helper.  The newly acquired defenceman David Scherer making a great impact in his first game showing off some offensive skills as well had a strong defensive game – a nice fit and great free agent signing by Babcock Sinclair.

With the Pirates breaking Callum-the-Cat’s bid for a shut-out with 2:33 left in the second; the period came to a close 4-1.

The Pack was strong after two and could sense they were wearing out Port Dover and that they did with an offensive explosion in the 3rd scoring 4 more times!  The K-Man potting 2 more, Jacob B slamming home another rebound as he found his home in front of the opposing team goalie and Andrew R going upstairs to close it out with assists going to Ryan Q, Isaac G, Crusher Sinclair, Turbo and Digger…even Callum-the-Cat got into the scoring frenzy notching an assist!

When the final horn went scoreboard read 8-1 from a SOLID TEAM effort with a ton of team play, passing and back checking leading to many opportunities offensively and a solid defensive effort – ALL this made for a game that was a pleasure to watch!!  When we combine being FIRST to the loose puck and playing defensively by clearing the zone in our end; GOOD things happen!  Well done Wolfpack!

With a week off for the team to ‘rest’ we will travel to Ingersol November 5th!

GO PACK GO!!!
