Wolfpack Sinks Pirates' Ship 7-1 in Home Opener
The Paris Optimist Peewees won in fine form Friday night to start their 2018-19 Southern Counties season, easily defeating the Port Dover Pirates 7-1.

There was excitement in the air Friday night as the boys arrived to the rink.  Even most of the coaches couldn't wait to get the ball rolling on the 2018-19 season.

The scoring started just 2:34 into the game.  The "gritty one" Spencer D started the scoring with a nice top cheese goal with the help of some great puck movement by his line mates.  Assists went to Jason B, who had a great night, but more on that later and Evan B.  This line would continue it's mastery of the Pirates about three and a half minutes later when Jason would get his first of the night.  Assists would go to Spencer and Evan on the play.  As you probably would guess, Jason would be at it again, scoring with 1:31 remaining on the PP for the Wolfpack to go up 3-0.  Alex B and Simon O would get the assist.  If this was a sign of what the PP could look like for the year, other teams should take note!  Paris would doze off a bit on the next faceoff and the Pirates would come down and make it 3-1, which is how the first period would end.

Paris would get the goal back early into the second period with you know who, Jason B using his soft hands to make it 4-1.  The assists would go to Max K, AKA "Moose" and Brody R.  Paris would start to get into a bit of penalty trouble from here on out but would persevere and kill all of them off. Paris would make it 5-1 on a beauty by Alex "the crusher" B on a nice feed from Trevor K.  Going into the 3rd, Paris was up 5-1.

Just over three minutes in, Jason B would get his 4th goal of the night!  There was no stopping this guy tonight.  It was noted that his stick was actually on fire at some points throughout the game.  Owen H and Harry P would gain the assists on the 6th goal.  Trevor K would finish the scoring with about three minutes remaining to make it 7-1.  Owen H and Harry would get the assists on the final tally.

Although the game was their first of the year, the coaching staff was quite happy with the boys teamwork throughout the game and felt that was a huge part of the victory.  There were a lot of unsung heroes in Friday's game as although some boys didn't make it on the game sheet, they still had a big part in the victory.  Although he wasn't as busy as the Pirates' goalie, Brendan S was solid in goal and made key stops at time.  Paris would out shoot Port Dover 41-16. Statistician/Trainer Cory W did a fine job of keeping stats for the game.

Paris will travel to Ingersol on Thursday where they will face a very tough team and then be back in Paris Friday night to play Tillsonburg. Keep your eye on the website for developing stories. Until next time...…...GO WOLFPACK GO!!
