Novice Wolfpack's November Roll
Well November is quickly coming to an end so it is time to put my keyboard tappers to work and update you on the Paris Wolfpack Novice Rep Paris Sports (where you go to get all your sporting needs) team.  Seeing a little white stuff on the ground this morning makes me want to warm my hands up with a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and get to work!

After a bumpy ride through the Rob Johnston Memorial, where the Wolfpack went 1 and 3, the boys in Black in Red have seemed to find another level.  The Wolfpack have dialed in and finished the month winning four games, tying one and loosing one.

The kids are starting to buy into the "We First" preaching of the coaching staff and have been rewarded in the standings.  The defensive five on five play has been at its best over the last three weeks with the team holding the opposition to three goals or less in five of the six games played.

Sam M has been playing some great hockey for the Wolfpack and has looked more like Carey Price than Denis Lemieux.  Sam has come up with some big time saves at the backend for the Wolfpack.  The defence core has also stepped up their game over the past three weeks.  Hayden S and Ty K have been solid for the Wolfpack moving the puck strong out of the D-zone.  Noah B has played his best hockey of the season and continues to improve while Owen W has provided both offensive and defensive support.  Up front, the offense has put together some pretty passing plays that have resulted in some nice goals and scoring chances.  Joining the "We First" movement, the forwards have been doing a great job skating hard back into the D-zone providing puck pressure from behind and supporting the defence.

The Wolfpack travelled to Caledonia after the Rob Johnston and picked up a hard fought 5-2 win.  Trailing 2-0, Paris responded with 5 unanswered goals for the win.

Returning home, the Wolfpack squared off against the undefeated Simcoe Warriors.  There was some crazy energy coming from the visiting stands.  Paris hung with the league leaders through the first 33 minutes as the teams skated to a 3-3 tie.  Unfortunately, a couple of penalty calls in the last 90 seconds put the Wolfpack down two men for the balance of the game.  The game was delayed briefly as the County engineers needed to check to make sure the building structure was safe after the roof raising cheer from the visiting stands on the 2nd Paris penalty.  The Warriors would score twice with the man advantage to take 5-3 win.

Paris then travelled down the 403 /401 corridor for a match in Ingersoll.  Paris played a strong two-way game firing shot after shot at the Express goal.  While only grabbing a 1-0 win, reports from the Ingersoll Daily newspaper had the Express goalie seeing flashbacks of pucks all through the night.  The team picked up their first shut out of the season.

A home rematch with Twin Centre followed.  Twin Centre had jumped the Wolfpack by a 10-4 score earlier in the season and with payback on their minds, Paris came out flying, skating hard and picked up a 3-2 win.

Pairs hosted the Ingersoll Express for the 2nd of their back to back home games.  Paris was strong throughout the game jumping out to a 4-1 lead.  Aidan D notched a big goal in his best game of the season.  The Express continued to battle hard but he Wolfpack hung on to a 5-3 win.

The Wolfpack's final game of the month was a road trip to the Northwest to square off against the mighty Titans of Tavistock.  The league leading Titans sit atop of the league standings with a record of 9-1-3 and defeated Paris 5-1 in early October.  A determined bunch hit the ice in Tuesday night.  Owen W and Reid (Marner) M put the Wolfpack up 2-0 in the first period.  A tight checking battle ensued with Paris taking time and space away from the Titan snipers.  Tavistock managed to cut the lead to 2-1 in the second and tied the game midway through the third.  Sam M made a big save in the final minute and the clock ran out as the Wolfpack were about take off on a 2 on 1.  A strong team game and commitment from the centre positions allowed Paris to hold the strong Titan snippers, who average over four goals a game, to just two goals.  The game provided a great example to the team on what the "WE" commitment can accomplish.

Paris has six December games left in the first half of their 2018/19 season and this keypad thumper is looking forward to watching this Wolfpack team play following their recent string of play.
