The
Paris Wolfpack ended the Southern Counties ‘A’ Division Playoff Round Robin with a
convincing 6-1 victory over the visiting Simcoe Warriors in a penalty filled
affair on Friday March 10th at the Brant Sports Complex. The game
featured lots of physical play and a combined 44 minutes in penalties.
After a scoreless first period, Paris opened the scoring with just over 3 minutes remaining in the second period when Will fed a perfect pass to Ryan on a 2-1. Will added to the Paris lead with under 30 seconds remaining in the 2nd period when he walked out from the side boards and snapped a wrist shot into the bottom corner. Nick picked up an assist on the power play marker. Simcoe scored in the early minutes of the 3rd period to draw within a single goal. Just over 1 minute later, Paris restored its 2 goal cushion when Gavin F. jammed in a loose puck in the goal crease. Ryan picked up an assist. With 10:54 remaining, Paris stretched its lead to 3 goals when Matt deposited the rebound off of James' shot into the net. Gavin M. collected the next Wolfpack goal on the power play. Will and Matt worked together in the corner to get control of the puck and Will fed the puck to Gavin in the high slot who made no mistake on the one-timer. James capped the scoring with just under 3 minutes remaining, getting control of the puck behind the goal line, out guessing the Simcoe goalie and finding the open corner of the net on the walk out.
