The
Simcoe Warriors scored the deciding goal with under 2 minutes remaining in the
3rd period to edge the Paris Wolfpack 3-2 in a penalty filled game 3
of their OMHA playdown series.
Following a scoreless first period, Will gave Paris the lead 5 minutes into the second period when he raced down the left side and wired a wrist shot into the top corner of the net. Just over two minutes later, Simcoe responded with a power play goal to tie the game and then followed with a go ahead goal 20 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period. With 2:44 remaining in the 3rd period, Gavin F. fed Owen at the point. Owen’s slap shot was deflected in front of the net by Ryan to knot the game at 2-2. Unfortunately, just 50 seconds later, Simcoe would regain the lead converting a 2 on 1 rush into the deciding goal.
