Intertown Play-offs
The Novice Wolfpack LL1 team has opened 2017 with the start of their Intertown league play-offs.  After finishing the first half of the season with a 6 and 8 record, LL1 was seeded into the A division for the 2nd half of the season.

Paris opened the play-offs on January 5th against the top ranked Burford LL2 team.  The team showed a little bit of rust from the Christmas break and dropped a tough 11-2 decision.

The Wolfpack seemed to find their legs during the Lisa Dalpe tournament and played three very solid games which carried over into this past weekend.  Facing the tough and dangerous Wolfpack LL2 team in a back to back set, LL1 had to be on top of their game.

On Saturday, LL1 caught a bit of a break as LL2 was playing with a shorter bench than normal.  Canaan S opened the scoring late in the first period to give LL1 the lead after the first period.  Carson V picked up the assist by moving the puck into the open ice for Canaan to track it down.  LL2 tied the game early in the second period when they were able to bang home a loose puck in front of Carson K.  The hard charging LL1 team regained the lead late in the 2nd period when Andrew G won a puck battle in the corner.  Andrew quickly feathered a pass to Scott H, who had positioned himself in front of the opposing goal.  Scott quickly fired a solid wrist shot that found the back of the net and LL1 had a 2-1 after two periods.  In the 3rd, LL1 seemed to finally wear down the short staffed LL2 squad and scored three times.  Andrew G notched his first of the game by picking up a loose puck in the slot and getting of a quick shot at an empty net.  Canaan S added his second of the game by firing a laser from the point off a face-off that found its way through the traffic in front to give LL1 a 4-1 lead.  Andrew G rounded out the scoring after receiving a nice feed from Charlie G at the point.  Canaan S was named the 'Worker of the Game' for his two goals and solid work in the defensive zone.

The return match on Sunday was packed with some intense action as LL2 returned to full strength.  Coach Lance and the coaching staff of LL2 had their team firing on all cylinders and created a number of great scoring chances.  Luckily for LL1, Carson K has his Carey Price costume on and stopped 6 or 7 breakaways to keep the score tight.  Carson V scored to give LL1 a 1-0 lead early in the first period.  LL2 kept battling and eventually scored late in the first period to knot things up at one.  The second period was filled with lots of action at both ends.  LL2 grabbed the lead when they capitalized on a breakaway to take 2-1 lead.  Canaan S answered right back picking up a loose puck off the face-off and scored 12 seconds later to tie the game at two as the teams headed into the third period.  In the 3rd, Carson V scored his second of the game on a solid wrist shot that bulged the twine and all of a sudden LL1 was skating with the lead.  LL1 tightened up the defense from there and put together a heavy forecheck to keep LL2 bottled up in their end.  When the defense broke down, Carson K-Price was on top of it keep the lead intact.

Five great team games in a row for the Novice Wolfpack LL1 team.  Keep up the great work!!
